The Ritual of Fang Shen and Tjwie Ting

Twie Tridharma released the belut fish in the direction of the river when following the procession of the sembahyang Fang Shen and the Twie Ting in the Klenteng Tjie Lam Tjay area, Semarang, Central Java, Tuesday (12/9/2023). The ritual led Biksu from China and was followed by dozens of Tridharma people of the city’s Chinese descendants to do for the arches who died in water or sinking by symbols releasing living creatures such as fish or playing to the free nature (Fang Shen) as well as removing the strandings in the flowing water (Pang Tjwie Ting).
