Patchouli farmers in West Aceh
Farmers take the base and middle shoots of patchouli plants (Pogostemon Cablin Benth) to vegetatively propagate patchouli seedlings in Cot Darat Village, Samatiga, West Aceh, Aceh, Tuesday (11/12/2024). The demand for patchouli seedlings has increased in the past three months along with the increasing public interest in cultivating the plant because in addition to the short harvest period, it also has the potential for high economic value as an export commodity, thus spurring an increase in the selling price of patchouli oil (essential oil) from IDR 500,000 per kilogram to IDR 1,800,000 per kilogram.
