ACEH JAYA, 2/9 ELEPHANT POPULATION. A Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus) is seen on Sampoiniet mountains, Aceh Jaya, Aceh province, September 1, 2012. According to International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), sumatran elephant is an endangered species which population drops from 5,000 in 1985 to 2,400-2,800.
