SUMATERA ELEPHANT POPULATION DECREASED

People see two Sumatran elephant tails (Elephas maximus sumatranus) in Gajah Training Center (PLG) Saree, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh, Friday (1/5). The data of the Indonesia Gajah Forum mentioned the population of Sumatra elephants in 2014 decreased drastically or is currently estimated to remain around 1,700 tails where the death of elephants in Sumatra in the last three years reached 200 tails due to hunting and killed due to damaging plantation plants.
