FACE MURAM SAUNG ANGKLUNG UDJO IN PANDEMI

Udjo Angklung saung (SAU) is known as a place of performance, handcraft center of bamboo and Sunda music instrument workshop. This place also serves as educational laboratories and traditional music learning centers, especially the warp.

Is the husband partner of Udjo Ngalagena and Uum Sumiati who established Saung Angklung Udjo in 1966 to preserve traditional Sunda culture.

Located on Jalan Padasuka number 118, Bandung, West Java, Saung Angklung Udjo usually held five-time performances in the day. The performance is widely demanded by students, domestic and foreign tourists.

During his journey, Saung Angklung Udjo has gained various local and international awards. One of the prestigious awards "Best Asean Cultural Preservation Effort" in ASEANTA 2016.

However, the COVID-19 pandemi has been living in Indonesia and the world since a year has changed the only face center of Sunda music culture in Indonesia.

The tourism business activity in Saung Angklung Udjo is quite perfect. In one week it was only visited no more than 20 people, in the normal condition, Saung Angklung Udjo is able to attract visitors to two thousand people per day.

During the Implementation of Public Activities (PPKM) in Java Island and Bali since January, Saung Angklung Udjo is not held a performance. The emptiness is filled by the 4th generation of Udjo Ngalagena to practice.

Two days in a week, the founder of Saung Angklung Udjo was also given their ability to play traditional Sunda music tools.

In line waiting for the pandemi end, Saung Angklung Udjo focused on regeneration of Sunda artists so that if later the state returns normal, the center of the Sunda culture can be back up with new generations and spirits.
