SABIRA REJECTED EXTINCTION WITH WASTE GOVERNANCE

Like other areas in Indonesia, waste is also a problem that people face in Sabira Island, Seribu Islands, DKI Jakarta Province. Each month, about 600 souls of the northern island population in DKI Jakarta it produces 600-700 kilograms.

However, the effort is not enough. Garbage is still often stacking in Sabira Island because KM Samtama only comes for a month.

Therefore, starting February 2020 local communities with the support of the Suku Dinas Environment (LH) Regency of the Thousand Islands set up Bank Garbage Sabira Net Gembira to better optimize efforts to reduce the volume of waste. The waste management system of waste bank garbage makes the habit of planting waste slowly abandoned society. Now, Sabira people switch to the habit of sorting organic waste and not organic.

From the divine outcome, the Sabira community has benefited. "Every year every customer get Rp 100,000-150.000 from plastic waste they deposit," said Agung who also became the management of Bank Garbage Sabira Net Gembira.

Most plastic wastes are deposited to the next trash bank are sold to collecters in Java and most other recycled into ecobricks or plastic waste recycling results that can be utilized into seats or tables.

Not only that, the organic waste of households is also processed into compost fertilizer that can be utilized citizens in matching planting. Most other organic wastes, especially kitchen waste, also they benefit as maggot catering food. Ulat-ulat maggot or larvae flies BSF (Black Soldier Fly) itself is utilized local communities as chicken cattle feed. Â

After the more intensive waste management is now the amount of residual waste or that cannot be utilized again less. From the average of 700 kilograms of garbage produced by Sabira citizens every month, about 500 kilograms of which can be recycled and taken its benefits.
