The Rokan block is a 'legenda life’s national migas industry. The Migas block in Riau was so famous for the peak of production of 1 million barrels per day (bph) in the 1970s. Formerly this block was used by Caltex, which was the cikal of PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia.
The United States company has drilled around 11.000 oil wells carried out nearly 100 years ago. There are two famous fields in the Rokan Block, namely Minas Court and Duri Court. These two fields become the production backbone of Chevron scale and also national.
On August 9, 2021, the Chevron contract ended and switched to PT Pertamina through PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) which is part of Subholding Upstream Pertamina. BUMN has a total of 100 percent of the Rokan Block stock that has a working area of 6.200 km square covering seven districts in Riau Province. The Rokan blocks are expected to still have an oil reserve of about 1.5 billion-2 billion barrels.

Although the working area of the Rokan migas is referred to as a Block, don’t imagine the territory is collected at one location. This PHR management area includes seven districts / cities in Riau Province, Siak Regency, Bengkalis, Rokan Hulu, Rokan Hilir, and Kampar and Pekanbaru City and Dumai City. A total of 10 fields that contribute to the production of oil in the Working Area (WK) Rokan is the field of Duri, Minas, Bangko, Former, Balam South, Batak City, Petani, Lematang, Petapahan, and Pager.
Until November 2021, the average production of Rokan Blocks of 162 thousand barrels per day (bph). Duri field contributes 35 percent. President Director PHR Jaffee A Suardin targeted 180 thousand bopd production in 2022.
"Our leadership in 2024 pursues the production of 270 thousand bph and in 2025 we pursued 300 thousand bph,"jar Jaffee.

In addition to the dream of driving again the success of the Rokan Block, this working area is still the second largest branching of the national oil lifting under the Cepu Block. Now, all the production of the Rokan Block is supplied to the refineries belonging to PT the International Pertamina Plant (KPI) to meet domestic needs.
Before being shipped to the refinery, all production of Rokan Block oil, enter the end phase with collected in the planting facility named HCT or HydroCarbon Transportation in Dumai City. The facility under Crude Oil Terminal Operation Center, is an area of 16 giant oil tanks. Each of the capacity of 150 thousand barrels, up to the largest 650 thousand barrels with a total capacity of 5.1 million barrels.
From HCT, this Rokan Block production oil is shipped to other factories belonging to Pertamina, namely the refinery of Palembang, Balikpapan, Cilacap, Balloongan using a tanker ship through the special cargo port of oil managed by PHR, Dumai Wharf Oil Terminal which voted four docks to load oil towards the tanker ship in this facility.

Unsolicited, the Rokan Block oilfield will be the Indonesian nation’s spill. Instead of managing the Rokan Blocks many hopes. At least, it can reduce the dependence and fuel imports from the outside and realize the independence of national energy.
