In the COP28 Climate Change Summit in Dubai, in his speech President Joko Widodo said that COP28 is one of the containers to strengthen the implementation of real action in the handling of climate change. He calls the importance of collaboration and cooperation of new energy funding renewable for developing countries.
One of the real collaboration action was shown Taman Margasatwa Ragunan (TMR) along PT Paiton Energy through the Waste to Energy program (WTE). From the program that was inaugurated on September 19th, 2023, TMR became the first conservation park that independently changed organic waste, animal dirt and animal feed remains biogas and electrical energy (Bigas/PLTSa Biogas Waste Power Plant).
This Waste to Energy program is an integrated waste management solution through the development of renewable energy in the form of eight units of biodigester machines that serve to process animal dirt and food residues. The impurities in question are elephant dirt, nilgai and capybara, as well as organic waste in the form of vegetable and the remaining fruits of poultry and primata feed.

TMR’s Biogas’s PLTSa is processed two tons of animal dirt and organic waste per day and generates electricity by 234 kWh. While organic waste fermentation process becomes biogas before converted to electricity lasts for 21-30 days. While unpaid biogas is used to cook workers at once to test gas content through the generated fire.
The electricity will be utilized for the needs of WTE and will also be channeled to the center space of the current organic waste management center is prepared.
This biodigester machine also produces solid fertilizer and organic liquid fertilizer organic waste processed results for agriculture that can be utilized by the manager unit and also visitors of the Ragunan Margasatwa Park.

Despite the current power of electricity generated is still micro-scale but most not able to be a real example of waste utilization into environmentally friendly energy that benefits all.
