Sentani Lake Festival entered into the sixth year in 2016. The cultural-based annual festival, the custom of istiadat and nature charm lasts for five days. In this year, the Sentani Lake Festival raised the theme One In Diversity of winning success.

A total of 24 villages from 21 islands in Lake Sentani became participant. The festival presents a variety of istiadat customs that have long been in the life of Sentani Lakes. A number of traditional events such as war dances, traditional arrows and boat races, to Papua’s signature handcrafts such as noken and carved decorations are introduced to large communities, and tourists through this festival.

The most distinctive feature of the Sentani lake festival is Isolo. This dance is a dance that symbolizes intersuku’s friendliness. Dancing, sorry, and graying tifa reveals joy and gratitude over the boat and bring their earth results like bananas, ubis, as well as hunt results like pigs.

Sentani Lake Festival became an annual tourist destination. Not only foreign and domestic tourists who become the target, people around Sentani to Jayapura also came to the festival. But not being sent, the tribes living in Sentani increasingly follow the hours, the struggle between the tribes is less, and the profession of the society who used to live from capturing fish and hunting are now part of them work in offices and further.

In the end of this festival reminds the visitors to return to local wisdom.
