Indonesia has long been known as one of the best quality coffee manufacturers. Based on the data of the last two-year Industrial Ministry, Indonesia is able to produce coffee beans by 685 thousand tons or 8,9 percent of the world coffee production with a composition of 76,7 percent of softa coffee and 23,3 percent of arabic coffee.
The plantation and coffee processing is currently spread across many regions in Indonesia, one of which is in Semarang. In the district there is an area of about 400 hectares in Bawen, Semarang Regency, belonging to PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) IX planted a glass coffee plant. In the year the garden average experienced a harvest period throughout July-November.
Each harvest season hundreds of workers originating from areas around the garden picking coffee beans. Next, wet coffee seeds are processed into roasted coffee beans and coffee powders in PTPN IX's factory located in Banaran, Semarang.

Established since 1911, Banaran Coffee Plant continues to survive one of the typical quality coffee supplier of Nusantara. Originally the factory only produces roasted coffee beans, but now also develops its production also become premium powder coffee beverage in packaging to be more attractive market.
By using the early output old machines in 1900s, Banaran Coffee Plants including being the flagship of PTPN IX which each day produces 35,60 tons per day. The production results are also for export markets to Italy, Japan, Taiwan and Hongkong.
