Computer-based National Exam (UNBK) or also called Computer Based Test (CBT) is a National Exam implementation system using a computer as a test media. In the implementation of UNBK is different from the paper-based national exam system or Paper Based Test (PBT) that has been running years.
The first UNBK implementation was held in 2014 online and limited but the UNBK implementation results were quite surprising and increasingly encouraged to increase the literacy of students against Information and Communication Technology (TIK). Gradually 2015 UNBK held by linking as many as 555 schools consist of 42 SMP/MTs, 135 SMA/MA and 378 SMK in 29 provinces.
The computer-based National Exam is seen to have many advantages over the paper-based National Exam. The advantages of UN CBT include more efficient, more cost-effective, more difficult to make a cheating, reduces the chance of leaking, safer, more data stored.

In 2017, 1.8 million High School Students (SMA) and Aliyah Madrasah (MA) participated in Computer Based National Exams from 20.557 schools throughout Indonesia.
From the amount, as many as 10.905 schools or 667.741 participants follow the National Exam of the Pencil Paper (UNKP) and 9.652 schools or 1.144. 294 participants follow the Computer Based National Exam (UNBK).
According to the Head of Balitbang Educational Assessment Center of Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud) Nizam, there are 1.812.035 high/MA students following UN. “We hope the implementation of UN is smooth and without fraud,” he said.
