Ranu Kumbolo, is a fresh water lake in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area (TNBTS) that offers beautiful scenery in the foot of Gunung Semeru.

To climb Semeru, it is necessary to complete the climbing permit or Simaction and a healthy certificate. Currently for the management of the climbing Simaction must be queue at the National Park Climbing Post Bromo Tengger Semeru, Ranu Pani Village.

The street will be a little climbing when approaching Pos I. In Pos I climber will encounter a stall that sells pruning, fried, and coffee. Lumayan gives energy to next post. The semangka seller will we encounter in each post of the climbing trail of Gunung Semeru, even up above Kalimati.

After I post, the climber will still pass a relatively flat path until Watu Rejeng. Usually the climbers will rest as much as there before heading to the post III that is enough to drain the power.

When the Pos III, the next challenge is to conquer the tanjakan that is exactly next to the semangka warung. The nearly 70-degree slope is enough to make many 'ngos-ngosan' climbers.

Overall, the average mileage time of the climbing gate to Ranu Kumbolo is 4-6 hours.
