The center of Literature Documentation (PDS) HB. Jassin is currently no longer the road is but it is rising to meet the path. The provision of the grant fund from the Government of DKI is now living Rp50 million only per year, in fact the previous years can receive up to Rp500 million. Of course it is not enough to finance the operation of the library, especially meeting the wellbeing of 14 employees.
Truly PDS. HB Jassin potentially became a Indonesian literature window with a collection of thousands of literary documentation since 1932 including major names such as Chairil Anwar, Motinggo Busye, and Sutardji Calzoum Bachri. But due to the drag of funds, now, PDS. HB Jassin has difficulties in managing its collection. Although it has received the help of a light drink company to scan the literary collection into digital form, but when the help ends in 2004, stop the processing activities of the library collection.
According to Endo Senggono, the 20-year-old manager is more in the PDS. HB. Jassin, should help from a number of institutions still flow, in the form of computers as well as scanner tools, but still has not been sufficient if referring to the digital ideals of literature collections.
The digitalization of literature is indeed a necessity to save the invaluable collection, moreover now, many collections are damaged due to the doubling process through the copier and manually copied by the user. With the digitalization of the literary collection will make it easier for people who need and maintain the quality of literary documents as a historical artifact.
Funds, technologies, as well as human resources are needed to save these historical assets. But before the three things, one thing that can be a new path for PDS. HB. Jassin, is concerned.
