President attended the inauguration of the name of the aircraft of the nation's subsidiary, Nurtanio for the national transportation aircraft N219. Said Nurtanio was taken from the name of the Indonesian aircraft pioneer, Laksamana Muda (Anumerta) Nurtanio Pringgoadisuryo, the first aircraft maker "all metal and fighter" Indonesia named Sikumbang.
The N219 aircraft is a cooperation between PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and the National Aviation and Antariksa Institution (LAPAN) since 11 years ago. PTDI started the concept of N219 as a connectivity solution in the remote region of Indonesia.

The Research and Implementation of Technology (BPPT) in 2008 until 2015 began aerodynamic testing located in Serpong, South Tangerang, and continuing the testing of aircraft components, production machines and fly tests. However, the target of the first fly test certification in 2014-2015 can be done in 2017.
N219 Nurtanio’s air-conditioning test process lasts up to date to have international certification. From a total of 300 hours of flying, the aircraft has a flying hour for 8.3 hours.
The aircraft will also be through a series of motion processed test testing (static test) to measure where the aircraft can withstand maximum load, pressure resistance test (phatigue test) to see how long the economy age.

This aircraft is 19 passengers capacity, driven two Prett and Whitney turboprop engines refer to the regulation of CASR Part 23 Air Transport. With the machine Nurtanio is able to fly at a speed of up to 213 knots as well as landing on a short foundation so it is easy to operate in remote areas. One of the advantages of this aircraft has greater load lifting capability of the similar aircraft.
Currently PTDI strives to raise production capacity to 30-40 units per year. In building this aircraft PTDI has gained an APBN fund allocation via LAPAN of Rp600 billion and from the internal PTDI of Rp227 billion with total project value of Rp822 billion.
