With DKI Jakarta, Palembang became the city selected to host Asia’s widest sports events, namely Asian Games 2018. The event will last from August 18th to September 2nd, 2018 which cools 40 sports branches, consisting of 32 oilmpiade sports branches and eight non-olimpiade sports.
Palembang city got 13 sports branches namely Women's Football, Sport Climbing, Sport Roller, Beach Volleyball, Shooting, Takraw Football, Field Tennis, Soft Tennis, Triathlon, Rowing, Boling, Canoe and Skateboard.
In order to welcome the event, Palembang is also insolek. For example expanding the Sultan Mahmud Baddarudin II Palembang Airport passenger terminal by increasing the aircraft (apron) from 10 aircraft to 15 aircraft and other supporting facilities to welcome thousands of athletes, ofisial, media and audiences.
