The creative event in the opening ceremony is divided in three segments, namely Air, Earth, Wind and Fire. Water Segment depicts the blue ocean that unites thousands of islands in Indonesia. Beginning from a relaxing samudra, presenting conflicts in the early days of Indonesia’s history, then the water is present to the merge, soothing the hull and bringing peace to all islands.
Then proceed with the Earth Segment depicting the beauty of the soil of the water through cultural diversity, color, expression and perspective to the present. This segment also features love and dedication of Indonesian children to earth. The representation of traditions in this segment aims to pack cultural diversity in ritual dance and war dance. In this segment, the fire and the lava lives the soul and the nation’s revival rooted on the earth. Fire will be the spirit and inspiration of sports fighters, asking them to victory in Asian Games 2018.
Chairman of Panitia Implementation of Asian Games (INASGOC), Erick Thohir, in his speech stated that the Asian Games is not just a sport party involving Asian countries. She saw this multievent event can unite the difference. "Because Asia means at the same time call the diversity of the nations in it. Then Asia loves diversity in their social life. For that reason, we present here, to celebrate our diversity, differences, and humanity, to transmit energy from diverse nations, one energy, one harmony, the energy of Asia.
