FAHOMBO INHERITANCE ON THE SUN

The Nias community is especially in South Nias Regency has a stone jumping tradition in regional languages called "Hombo Batu" or "Fahombo" which has become the famous Nias cultural attraction. Is in the village of Bawo Mataluo or Bukit Matahari where the community can see the sunrise, is one of the villages where it is often encountered by cultural attractions.

The tradition of Hombo Batu was inherited under the falls in each family of his father to his son. However, not all Nias youth can do it even though it has practiced One of the inheritors who still did the attraction was Cristian Nehe (18) and Imran Manao (22), two teenagers who did practice Hombo Batu since childhood.

The Nias community believes that in addition to practicing, there are other elements that magic of the ancestor spirit where a young man can successfully jump the stone about two meters perfectly.

SPECIFICATIONS.

The beginning of Hombo Batu is a tradition that emerges from the habit of fighting between villages, each village boasts its territory with stone or bamboo as high as two meters. Therefore, the tradition of the stone jump was born and was carried out as a preparation before the fight.

Now fahombo is no longer done as the preparation of intersuku war, but as rituals and cultures of the Nias society. The Nias Youth can jump stone is considered mature and mature, so it can be married. Now, stone jumps become cultural heritage and as one of the tourist objects in the area.
