There are two wells in Long Midang villages that are still actively used for salt processing, locals provide the name of the well being male and female. The processing of wells or salt creation is not individually managed but managed by each family in turn. The process of making the mountain salt since it was found first time did not experience changes until now, the taste is not changed at all. The salted water obtained from the well is cooked sharply by using firewood to form white crystals that are then sunbed.
The mountain salt in Krayan is believed to have high iodine content. Due to this excellent quality of salt society sells as souvenirs. Some are also sold to neighboring countries such as Sabah, Serawak to Brunei Darussalam and the price is more expensive than salt is usually.
