On May 27, 2006 a 5.9 earthquake rocked Yogyakarta. Around 6.000 people were killed and thousands more were injured. After the earthquake, more than 2.000 people became handicap or different abled people (difabel).
They survived from death but not lucky enough to continue their lives just like before the earthquake. Some were able to survive although physical defect shackled them and they try to recover by undergo therapies. One of clinics that help the earthquake victims to undergo therapies is Indonesian Red Cross medical rehabilitation clinic for earthquake patients at the village of Code, Sabdodadi, bantul.
Everyday, around 146 disabled people come to the clinic which was built on September 9, 2006 to undergo physical and mental therapies. Sharing thoughts and stories among patients or with 20 volunteers are activities that they do while taking therapy at that minimum budget clinic.
A year has passed since the earthquake struck Yogyakarta. The journey of time isn?t directly change people?s fate. Along with family and friends left, the disabled people must fight to set them free from physical defect that shackled them.
