WHEN THE FIRE THREATS THE PRESENCE OF HUMAN LUNGS AND THE WORLD

Asap boasts high from forest fire and land (Karhutla) at a number of locations in Kalimantan Island. The island called Borneo in the colonial era is the third largest island in the world, where the tropical forest is one of the world’s lungs.

The fire does not burn trees along with biodiversity in the national park which is the natural conservation area with the original ecosystem, managed by the zoning system utilized for research purposes, science, education, supporting cultivation, tourism and recreation.

Based on the latest study of 12 researchers from Harvard and Columbia University, the United States, published in the journal Environmental Research Letters (2016) mentioned on September-October 2015, there was a little 90 thousand cases of death in Indonesia due to the haze of Karhutla with losses reaching Rp221 trillion based on the World Bank research.

In 2019, Karhutla’s disaster was again held with the most hot point since the fire in 2015. It occurs due to the El Nino weather patterns that worsen the annual dry season.

Based on the data of the National Agency of Disaster Management (BNPB) published on Monday, September 30, 2019, the area of Karhutla throughout Indonesia has reached 328.724 hectares and continues to extend that resulting in a concentrated haze mist with the aroma of confounding the city and districts in a number of provinces in Indonesia.

A number of cities in neighbors are exposed to imbas from the haze of Karhutla such as Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

The impact of karhutla on two islands in Indonesia, Kalimantan and Sumatra has become a good concern from domestic and international circles because the haze has lubricated the activity of citizens and led to the distraction of health even causing human death including animals inhabiting forests.

The government of Indonesia continues to strive to rejuvenate the disaster by forming the Tasks Unit (Satgas) Karhutla from TNI, Polri, BPBD Province, society and other interested parties both from land and air lines with a total of 29.039 personnel. 45 helicopters are excluded for air patrol and "water bombing" in an effort to extinguish and prevent Karhutla widespread.

Karhutla will continue to occur even if the central government or the area seeks to prevent. It occurs due to two factors that are nature and humans.

Burning forests and lands carried out by oknum is not responsible for environmental crimes as well as humanitarian disasters. There will be no one that can dissolve the disaster if it is not from self-consciousness. Therefore, let's keep the forest with its content to remain asri because the forest is an important area for the earth and human life that will become a heritage for children and grandchildren.
