Opens the land by burning and moving fields for most farmers are common because it has become a tradition of descending from ancestors.
But it has long been abandoned by the majority of farmers in the village of Mengkiang which is in the riverstream Sekayam, Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan.
One of them is Daniel (37), the farmers from Dusun Sungai Langer, Desa Mengkiang, Kapuas District, Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan.
Daniel (37) is active in its own fields located in Dusun Sungai Langer, Desa Mengkiang, District Bonti, Sanggau, West Kalimantan.

In an area of 1.3 hectares there are 11 types of food crops and fruits that grow fertile without having to burn when opening their land first.
“To change the behavior of moving farms, then I have to persuade citizens slowly. It is necessary that I can invite five KK to implement the unfueled land opening practice (PLTB) then the burned land or the fire point will be reduced by five hectares per year,â€kata Daniel.
The same thing with Daniel, Junaedi (50) also has abandoned the practice of opening land in a burning manner. In the 0.8 hectares of rice fields located in the Industrial Plant Forest area (HTI) this, Junaedi managed to plant organic rice with a rainforest sawah method that produces dry rice 2,8 to three tons in a harvest time.

The success of Daniel, Junaedi and Togos who do the unfueled land openings is not separated from the role and construction of PT Finanntara Intiga, the Asian Pulp & Paper business unit (APP) Sinar Mas in West Kalimantan through the Makmur Peduli Api Village program (DMPA).
APP Sinar Mas runs the DMPA program by supporting the community to manage the land by agroforestri method, which is matching the tumpang sari horticulture (sayur and fruit), food crops, farms and fisheries as well as small industries for food processing, whether for their own consumption and sold as alternative to family income sources.
The DMPA program in West Kalimantan has provided assistance to 329 family heads in 18 villages with an additional target of three villages to the end of 2019.
